Newspapers are still shedding on average 1,000 jobs per month - more than mining, steel, fishing and all the beleaguered industries politicians talk about.

The news industry - in all formats - is in crisis. We need sustainable business models for journalism
The internet disrupted old business models, with free online content and rock-bottom digital ad rates depriving news organizations of sustaining ad revenue.
Till someone comes up with something better, there are two solutions: PAY for news you trust & DONATE to nonprofit news

This is going to be a long-thread. Will try to do an assessment of the NIFTY & Bank Nifty to answer 2 different questions:
1. What happens in pre-election months?
2. Where are we today?

Lets start with the elections:
Q. What happens?
A. Surprise! Markets Trend every time.
1. There is data for 6 Gen. Elections i.e. 1996 - 1998 - 1999 - 2004 - 2009 & 2014.
2. I look at data starting 3 / 4 months prior to elections to the month prior to results e.g. Jan - Apr.

Reason I'm not including results month is because data gets distorted by a binary event.
3/n
 1. 1996 - April & May: 15% move from Jan lows to April High.

2. 1998 - Feb & March: Preceded by LTCM Bear Market. 14.5% from January lows to Feb Highs

3. 1999 - September & October: 56% move between May lows & Sep High

Special Fresno City Council meeting regarding moratorium on water violations.
Meeting getting started ten minutes late. All Councilmembers are present for this one topic meeting. @stevebrandau says after three month survey with University of Chicago resulted in many phone calls some were from ignorance or frustrating but eventually number became to great.
Collection of three month data and will be dealt with in January Council meeting. Conservation is more important than the fines collected. Would make moratorium retroactive to first date of automated colllection. If fine already paid then it will be deducted from water bill.

You will see a very detailed comparison shortly. But @BarackObama was wrong. The jobs picture is not the same under @realDonaldTrump.

Under Trump, there's been an average 82,000 more jobs per month than Obama. Wage growth last month was fastest pace since the Great Recession.
2. Under @BarackObama, natural resources and mining were negative trends, and manufacturing was on life support. Under @realDonaldTrump, the former is now net positive and strong, while manufacturing now growing at fastest pace since 1995. peoplespunditdaily.com/news/economy/2…
3. One more for good measure. Manufacturing, which was on life support under @BarackObama, now employs the highest number in a decade. So, "No," the jobs picture under @realDonaldTrump is not the same now.

U.S. has added an average of 221,000 jobs per month over past six months, 2.4 million total over past year. If anything, trend is accelerating.
But the "but" is the same as always: wages. Average hourly earnings up 2.7%, which is less than most recent inflation reading (ahead of core). And growth rate not picking up.
One clear positive: Manufacturing. Sector has now added jobs every month for a year, for total of 327k new jobs. No sign tariffs have dented hiring so far.
