I love it when people are willing to host a low-carbon virtual seminar + I do my best - with good A/V equipment and the help of the fabulous @polleverywhere - to make it a very interactive and high-quality experience. Coming up this semester, I'll "be" in NM, AZ and CO. Details:
If you're in the Phoenix area, join me for a @SESEASU Colloquium on Jan 30 at 3:30 p.m. in the Marston Exploration Theater (and an academic seminar the next morning). sese.asu.edu/research/collo…
If you're near Las Cruces, join @NMClimate and I at an @nmsuccess1 seminar on "Barriers to Public Acceptance of Climate Science, Impacts and Solutions” at 6:30 p.m. Wed Feb. 6 in Domenici Hall in the Yates Theatre, Room 106. newscenter.nmsu.edu/Articles/view/…
If you're near Fort Collins CO, join me for a @SOGES_CSU seminar hosted by @DianaWallSoil on Mar 7 @ 4:30 pm in Behavioral Sciences- A101, "Mitigate, Adapt–or Suffer: Connecting Global Change to Local Impacts and Solutions"

I'm delighted to participate in this years' @NatBioTeach on Feb 8 along with @WhySharksMatter and many more! Teachers, register here: nationalbiodiversityteachin.com/dr-katherine-h… nationalbiodiversityteachin.com/dr-katherine-h…
Don't forget that every Wednesday is Global Weirding day! We release a new episode every two weeks so subscribe here: globalweirdingseries.com and every other week I do a live Q&A on FB. If you're on FB, like my page and you'll be notified of the next one: facebook.com/katharine.hayh…
Another great thing about doing online presentations is that I can record them using @Adobe Presenter and post them on @YouTube afterwards so everyone can watch. Here are a few recent ones:
My symposium on talking climate and soils with stakeholders in a changing world, to the @SSSA_soils international meeting earlier this month. The room was full - about 75 people, I'd guess. But since then, over 200 have watched the talk!
I gave an update on the latest findings from the US national climate assessment to creation care advocates across the US in this online webinar in December hosted by @mitch_at_EEN at @CreationCare: zoom.us/recording/play…
I gave a more technical summary of the climate science and impacts underlying the National Climate Assessment for @ClimateCentral's fantastic Climate Matters program, here:
And when I do travel, I ask that my talk be recorded if at all possible so that others can watch or listen later - so we've created a resource that can continue to be used and useful. Some recent examples include:
I participated in a discussion with fellow climate scientist Noah Diffenbaugh @climateone event this week honouring climate great Steve Schneider. Recording here: facebook.com/climateone/pos…
I loved speaking at @jessica_moerman and @chrismoerman's church, @GraceCapital in December - the podcast of my sermon is here: gracecapitalcity.com/podcast/2019/1…
Finally, I just got back from a "live" trip where I collect a ton of invites for as many events as humanly possible to minimise the c footprint of each one: this week, 8 events in 3 days at @climateone @azusapacific @pepperdine + @westmontnews. So grateful for their flexibility!
It ain't easy, I'm not going to lie. The scheduling is very time-consuming. I had to set up a home studio. Being a more senior scientist, universities are more willing to flex with me than with more jr colleagues. And yes, I still do fly. Quite a bit.
My philosophy isn't about less per se, it's about being smarter with what we have. Resources, time ... and carbon. Use it all to maximum effectiveness to accomplish our purpose. Can I get an amen?
