.@bungarsargon Id loved to speak to you about how the premise of this piece is precisely why I feel so critical of many of the pieces you’ve recently published in the Forward. It seems you’ve painted every Ashkenazi Jew who disagrees with a Jew of Color as monster incarnate.
Purely by virtue of the fact that one has one phenotype while another has a different one. It is precisely the dangers you point out here which I think are the dangers of how you’ve characterized some debates in the pages of the Forward.

1. What type of shared future do you anticipate is possible for Israelis and Palestinians to experience together?

2. What programs of reconciliation do you think can be implemented across the I-P divide?
3. Both Israelis and Palestinians have been at war for a long time. There’s a strong likelihood that PTSD effects both communities. What programs do you think the US (and others) can support to help heal that?
4. You have had the experience of being a refugee. In what ways has this taught you how to overcome? Both Palestinians and Israelis have also been refugees. How can you use your experience to make this a shared experience that brings the communities together, not further apart?

This is a great piece coming from my mentor Bret Stephens. Be sure to give it a read. It’s also worth noting that when it comes to certain progressives’ analysis of Israel, they have zero context and thus zero understanding of what they’re talking about.
The average American left-wing reader has a tendency to project her understanding of American history (black vs white) onto every other subject of interest & by doing so displays a failure of imagination & a profound ignorance of both European & contemporary Israeli history.
It is, after all,Mizrahi Jews who put Likud in power. The paradox of people of color being responsible for the existence of a right-wing government in Israel is something unfathomable for commentators in America who deal in caricature (& think the world revolves around them.)

It’s fascinating to explore how AOC and the Jay Z/Diddy #blackexcellence moment trending on Instagram right now are both part of our current zeitgeist. These are, in many ways, complete contradictions of each other though they would seem to be cut from the same cloth.
One represents a complete repudiation of billionaire mentality whereas the other not only embraces billionaire mentality but sees it as an expression of black success and progress.
This is why I find the invitation sent from @chrissyteigen to @AOC to be such a fascinating moment. A time where social capital can be leveraged and manifested in seemingly incoherent ways.

many times in the history of the great $TSLA $TSLAQ debate, team $TSLA including/especially @elonmusk and recently @bonnienorman have accused $TSLAQ of being a cabal, some sort of top down unit.

it isn't.

it's something FAR more potent.

it's an emergent system.

that's not a hierarchy. do these folks even know what a cabal looks like?
these accusations do a disservice to $TSLAQ . it's not some tightly controlled and steered system. it's a robust, evolved, symbiotic system. this is not an amazon warehouse. it's the global system that makes sure NYC has enough and the right sorts of food every day.

Good morning, people. I want to reflect on my latest piece about Tamika Mallory and Farrakhan. I have gotten lots of feedback (a lot privately) and I appreciate all of it. I'll share some of those notes and how I will use them to grow as a writer. #thread
First, the more critical notes: My article did not address FOI and Farrakhan's virulent misogyny and anti-LGBTQ hate as it should. I admit the piece would have been better served had I delved more into. In the future, I will take this head on when writing about NOI.
One of the issues with Mallory's defense of Farrakhan is that it is not just about anti-Semitism. Black people are LGBTQ. Black people are black women. Is it REALLY worth it to defend someone whose ideology doesn't fully embrace them?
