This is frustrating watch. A politician calling for a policy she acknowledges will hurt the country. Then demanding parliament "get on with it", even though no-one knows what "it" is.
I don't particularly disagree with the criticisms of a second referendum. They just seem secondary to the criticisms of Corbyn's plan (non-existant, impossible), May's deal (incoherent, democratically unacceptable, dead) and no-deal (unspeakable national self-harm).
It's so easy to sit there and criticise, as Rayner is doing, when your own policy is what? An imaginary customs union relationship with voting rights, attached to an imaginary single market relationship you haven't bothered to specify, negotiated in an imaginary period of time.
At least the People's Vote and May's deal are a specific enough proposition to be meaningfully criticised. Attacking Labour's policy is like trying to bludgeon someone to death with jelly.
