-- go to the gym
-- go swimming
-- use a public restroom in a busy area
-- use a public restroom in a not-so-busy area
-- use any public restroom
-- not worry about dressing femme enough / too much
-- walk alone at night
-- not having to be polite to strangers asking to be taught
(cont'd)

-- applying for a job confident that being trans will not matter
-- using any dating app without anxiety
-- not having to carefully control my anger when someone progressive and well-meaning randomly brings up how their friend/coworker/relative is a TERF
(cont'd)

-- not being asked by a stranger at a party if I've seen this or that or the other trans movie or television show
-- not being told by a cis person that at least as a trans woman, I don't get street harassed or need to worry about assault or rape
(cont'd)

-- not experiencing the incredibly odd and dehumanizing objectification that comes with someone, particularly strangers, feeling entitled to discuss sex with me because simply being a trans person means I must be into so-called "weird shit"
That felt really good to write.
Oh god, one more: not being confused for other trans folks who--lovely though they are--look nothing like me, nor I like them. How do you work at a national progressive organization and think I'm Christine Hallquist?
I'm sorry, one more: the freedom to be angry about all of this, or angry about anything in any context, and not worry that I'm going to alienate allies or make life harder for other trans folks.
