In professional settings, the standards for attire for women are ever-changing and open to interpretation. Men, of course, have it easy. So easy that in 2017 an Australian tv host wore the same suit every single day for a year without anyone noticing. 1/7

Women in the workplace face a number of different choices, each with potential pitfalls, in deciding what to wear to the office. Watch the hemlines on skirts and dresses, make sure that a v-neck doesn’t expose too much cleavage. 2/7

Wear a business suit and you may be seen as trying to “dress like a man.” Wear something feminine and you risk not being taken seriously. Be a progressive like @AOC and wear a suit that looks “too expensive” and get called out. 3/7

This brings me to Senator Kyrsten Sinema. She has a unique style and is known for having fun with fashion. Her outfit when being sworn in showcased this. @kyrstensinema 4/7

Last week when she wore a mini dress (that covered her shoulders as dictated by Congressional rules) and trendy thigh high boots on the Senate floor a political enemy seized on her outfit. @kyrstensinema 5/7

That political enemy? He wasn’t even hers- he was actually trying to attack Senator Doug Jones as though Jones has any say over the wardrobe choices of anyone but himself, let alone a fellow senator. @SenDougJones 6/7

As the world changes, we must change with it. Let Sinema’s constituents decide at the ballot box if they feel her outfits are inappropriate and overshadow her performance in the Senate. But shaming her or any other woman for what they choose to wear? Shame on you. 7/7
