I’m trying really hard to stay out of this Bernie Sanders SOTU response thing because I know a lot of the attacks are manufactured outrage and establishment tricks but I have a responsibility as a black Bernie supporter to tell Bernie, this ain’t it.

So the only possible reason to do it is that 1. You think the more rebuttals the better or 2. You think Stacy Abrams isn’t going to do it right. First point is just false. More rebuttals the better is not true and even if so he could just do it tomorrow.

Black women are consistently mansplained and whitesplained away. I swear to god if Bernie goes up there and says “ya what she said but in a white mans voice” I’m gonna be so pissed. He better come with new points. But he could say those new points tomorrow.

Bernie Sanders is a senior senator who can get the floor of the senate at any time, has a huge platform, and is the most popular politician in the country. He loses nothing by letting Abrams have this night. He does not have a platform problem.

But anyways, he isn’t speaking at the same time as her, I expect him to hopefully say different things, and he is directing people to listen to her. That’s all fine but still he should have done it tomorrow. But let’s talk about the damn strategy here!

Part of why he lost is he got his ass kicked in the south where he got little black support. I know y’all think that was the DNCs fault or something but give black people some more credit than that. If you know that’s a problem with your campaign, why the hell would you do this?

You should be taking every chance possible to show the black community, especially in the south, that you are listening and improving.

Someone in his camp has to tell him that this is going to look bad and there will be a lot of negative press. Wtf is Bernie gaining here? All that’s happening is a bunch of people seeing headlines that he’s a racist, and his toxic supporters defending every misstep.

There was no benefit to this! And if anything it just reminds everyone how toxic his most dedicated supporters are and how they refuse to think that Birdie Christ can make any mistakes.

TLDR: Bernie’s SOTU response is a bad idea, bad political strategy, and not worth the return.

And if I see one more white person screenshot Nina Turner, who is a hero of mine, defending Bernie I’m going to lose it. You can’t “I have a black friend” your way out of this.

And not all bad press Bernie gets is the fault of the establishment or the clintons or whatever else conspiracy. Even if it was, that’s the game. Someone has to predict them! Bernie is capable of mistakes and if we want him to win we have to demand better.

Anyways, the idea that he’s even doing it just reminds me of all the white men in progressive circles who think their ideas are better and different because it came from them.

And just so I don’t get a bunch of them olol ole super mad and unfollowing me, I still like Bernie’s policies the most. I was a Bernie delegate. I worked hard to get him elected. I just also see all the other people who were in those circles being shitty all the time lol
