It’s true that these people are grifters, and it’s true that they offend liberals. And our responses increases their prominence.
But what makes them remarkable isn’t that their statements are controversial, but rather that they are uncontroversial to the right.
We engage with it not because they are trying to fill a market, but because that market is being filled.
They are the canary in the coal mine.
It’s not a good place.
Their ideas are very popular.
I prefer exposing it to ignore-ance.
I’m just saying they have a target audience, and among that target audience they are beloved and non-controversial, and we’d do well to notice that.
