How many people remember 2011 when conservatives told us that the light bulb police were going to inspect our homes and punish us if we didn't switch to more efficient modes of lighting our house? Did that happen and I just missed it? freedomworks.org/content/light-…
Perhaps I misread that webpage from 2011, because I'm sitting under an efficient light bulb I bought for $12 in 2012 which finally burned out after saving me money on my electricity bills over the past 7 years.
This was a very ineffectual way to point out that conservatives are going to say the sky is falling regardless of what changes the government proposes. Even a GOP-supported light bulb bill made them freak the hell out. And the sky, DID NOT FALL!

1. These Presidential rallies really are like nothing else in the history of American politics. We've had presidents who misrepresent the truth, presidents who whip up racial divisions for electoral gain, but we've never had one who could amp up a conservative crowd like this.
2. The @gop has got to be wondering, where do we go from here? Once your base has come to crave and expect the emotional rush that comes from one of these rallies, how do you feed that need once Trump is gone?
3. Do they really think the hundreds of thousands of people who have attended a Trump rally since 2015 are going to be moved by a "Little Marco" stump speech, a wonky Mitt lecture about civility, a polite Nikki Haley endorsement of global engagement & tolerating our differences?

David Brooks, who admires that elitist centralizer Alexander Hamilton, has discovered that he only likes elitist centralizing when it's the economic elite pursuing its economic interests, rather than a scientific elite pursuing evidence-based policy.
FWIW, here's an interesting Brooks piece from 2007 (feels like a century ago), lauding then-candidate Hillary Clinton for her pro-middle class economic policy proposals. He chided Republicans for having no ideas of their own. nytimes.com/2007/10/12/opi…
Fast forward 12 years and the Republicans still don't have any policy ideas about fostering greater economic opportunity, but now that the Dems have some, Brooks is quick to brand them as elitist, when the whole goal is to break down the power of the economic elite.

People have been talking about virtual SIMs for ever. In fact, you can see this model already on a cellular iPad. Choose your network in the device settings, and choose a new one when you land in a new country.
The nightmare for operators is that your phone pops up each Monday morning telling you who has the cheapest data this week, and automatically switches the virtual SIM, and you use your actual PSTN phone number so little (thanks to messaging apps) that you don't care if it changes
If you want to go through automatic phone number porting as well, that adds a whole other level of complexity (and regulatory involvement) that is different in every country. Hard to see Apple wanting to build the back-end infrastructure needed.

First off, we must thank-you all. We launched a poll on Monday expecting maybe 500 responses maximum. Instead we had a whopping three-thousand-two-hundred-and-thirty votes on our Twitter poll.

That’s ridiculous.
We asked you which party you thought had the oldest average age of MPs.

Most of you, 66%, thought it was the @Conservatives, then the @LibDems (15%), then @UKLabour (14%), with the @theSNP coming in last with (5%).

I bet the SNP are feeling fairly youthful right about now.
