Talking to voters on the campaign trail is one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done. So I'm going to start #VoterPearls, pearls of wisdom I pick up as I meet the people of Virginia's 87th District.

Oh @RoyBeck_NUSA I'm disappointed. Last year you sent me a bag of gumballs to chew on with a card that said it's "always good to stay in the conversation.

Not always, I guess. @NumbersUSA (the nation's largest grassroots anti-immigrant organization you head) blocked me.
But what is NumbersUSA?

It's part of the trifecta of anti-immigrant organizations, the others being the Federation for American Immigration Reform (@FAIRImmigration) and the Center for Immigration Studies (@CIS_org). All were founded/nurtured by John Tanton, a white nationalist.
NumbersUSA was founded by Dr. Roy Beck who was "concerned" with "certain" people "overpopulating" the United States. (Heard that before? Yes - white nationalists are also very concerned about overpopulation. We see you.)

Shirley is former president of the Fairfax County NAACP and currently leads the Communities of Trust Committee. She lived through the civil rights movement.

Kelvin is the son of one of America's most infamous white supremacist leaders. Kelvin conquered the hate he was taught.
Both our guests tonight have unique insights into confronting hate and moving past it.

It's uncomfortable, but necessary. As a candidate, I don't want to be the type of legislator that only looks toward the next election.

Virginia is one of the capitals of the Confederacy. We have a dark and painful history of slavery, defending it, and then creating a different "peculiar institution" to perpetuate it.

One of the most dangerous things about Brexit: lag.

It takes months and months for business changes to filter down into stats. Up to a year for corporate tax revenues from small businesses.

So all the scary statistical reports we're seeing aren't even keeping up with reality.
It's like the UK is suffering some fast-moving terminal illness, but every time we go to the doctor we get shown scans and charts from months ago. They kinda-sorta tell the story, sure, but they don't tell us where we are NOW.
But the corollary of all that is, we will only realise we've reached full on brown trouser time long after the moment has in fact passed. And by then, it's not just too late - it's much too late...

People are talking about the newsroom shooting as if it was either personal or political. But often, both are intertwined.
As soon as everyone found out the shooting was rooted in violence against women, it was written off as apolitical. This is wrong-headed for two reasons.
One, misogynist harassment and violence *is* political. Male supremacy *is* an ideology. "I would like to be with this woman" is personal, but "And I feel entitled, as a man, to have her whether she likes it or not" is a political, ideological view.

1) What makes the most sense is the SC shut downing real soon. I believe all indictments against Team Trump are finished.
2) I believe indictments against members of Team Clinton are ready but it's not going to be Mueller unsealing them.
