Going to tell you right now, people calling for going back on the gold standard have no idea how money really works, not the slightest clue.
First off, there's not enough gold in the world at the current free market evaluation to back the currency, regardless of whether we use a new currency or not.

There never has been, that is why we were on a fractional reserve system before, which bankrupted the country
