He was sent to the hospital, where everyone thought he was dead. They even stopped giving oxygen, when someone grabbed his hand & he jolted awake.
When he was in the hospital, the gunmen came looking for him again.
He was still covered in bandages. He trekked for three weeks before arriving in Coahuila, & was then bussed to this shelter on the border.
No one knows what to expect. They don’t know how long they’ll be in this shelter, & even if they get out, the Eagle Pass port of entry is only taking 15 per day.
What can we say? We suggest they don’t cross on their own, but alternative isn’t comforting: The laws are always changing. We don’t know how long they’ll have to wait.
“Es muy duro,” they say.
The US response has been to send 250 troops to Eagle Pass.
There’s been no attempt to let more people in & no attempt to send humanitarian aid.
He wants to be with his wife & children on the other side.
It’s hard to say when or how that will happen.
