1/ I got sucked into $tslaq around 7/18/18. I had installed $100K of solar panels after doing a lot of research and looked into the solar roof tile scam, which seemed sus from when I had first heard about them (the Desperate Housewives demo.)
2/ I wasn’t a big Twitter fan but I started to read $tsla and saw more and more fraud and delusional thinking. I retired from managing OPM 15 years ago, but I saw the resemblance to the dotcom era. History may not repeat itself, but it does come back as crude parody.
3/ I had been a contrarian and did well by it, so I closed down my advising corp and gave up my RIA. There wasn’t much reward for independent value analysis in the new era post-2008 anyway.
4/ I looked through every $tsla business and found each of them rotten, with 1950s PopSci-level claims and no underlying documentation outside Elon Says for most of them. SpaceX seemed real but then I found out more...
5/ Now I see Elon as a pretender, charlatan, PT Barnum-style humbug artist who arrived in Silicon Valley attracted by the real wealth and the trust generated by its culture. Which he promptly gamed to his advantage. He was paid off to exit PayPal but insinuated himself into Tesla
6/ Soon he ejected the founders and became Founder. He energetically took over and started the micromanagement that eventually would ruin the company. Responsible engineers and mgmt left. As he got away with more fraud, his schemes got.. fraudier.
7/ Fake battery swap demo to steal $100 million in emissions credits, $scty bailout ($billions), solar roof tiles scam. Bel Air houses, drugs, celebrity gfs, Full Self Driving claims, free roadsters for microinfluencers, secretive Curacao “foundation”...
8/ In Nov ‘18 one of our best friends was killed in the crash of his own Model S. I can’t prove it was the buggy software, but I suspect. Now I spend way more time on Twitter than I used to because of $tsla.
