I guess the polticians Amazon was trying to bully forgot to blink.
As for the idea that dumb pols deprived their town of high-paying jobs, get a fucking grip this is New York City we're talking about here, with millions of high-paying jobs that government doesn't have to pay $3 billion to access
The key part of the statement is this. Amazon needs to be in NYC, will continue to be in NYC, they just won't be paid in corporate welfare for it.
The entire #HQ2scam laid bare the process by which wealthy corporation raid public treasuries. Amazon will be fine, it's the economic development subsidy gravy train that's been fatally compromised. Amazon ruined it for everyone. So thanks Jeff B!

Wyden: "2018 was an election year. The Trump Treasury Department had a shiny new tax law on its hands, and there’s no question they wanted people to like it."
"It sure looks like the Trump administration decided to put politics first, lowball the estimates of how much tax should be withheld from everybody’s paychecks, and lure people into the false sense of security that they’d gotten a big tax cut, courtesy of Donald Trump."

Amazon cited lack of cooperation from local politicians as a reason for pulling out. This will hurt both Amazon and NYC.
Amazon's official statement on pulling out of the deal with New York to build one of their headquarters there:

new york city literally has separate autonomous muslim and jewish civilian police forces. people call these groups before the actual police, and they “often” (probably almost always) dont tell the actual police about crimes that have occurred
the actual police are gleefully complicit with this:
in new york the line is completely blurred as there is the shomrim (jewish police), and then there is the NYPD shomrim society, for actual policemen who also happen to be jewish

agreed and btw, unemployment rate in Iowa is nearly non-existent 2.4%. are folks who are still obsessing abt white rural voters pretending voters there face Dust Bowl-like conditions these days?
it’s weird to hear people obsessing over white rural voter “pain” in 2018 while still clinging to 2009 economic conditions.
I’m *not* suggesting Iowa is flooded w/ high-paying jobs. I am suggesting realities have shifted in recent years but the talking points have not

New York is giving Amazon a tax subsidy of $48,000 per job plus a straight $325 million cash grant. Plus other incentives.
Also looks like Amazon is now predatory pricing to kill UPS and Fedex. Classic monopolizing technique. cnbc.com/2018/11/09/ama…
This is my favorite subsidy for Amazon. Small, but humiliating. "The company will also receive a cash grant from Arlington of $23 million over 15 years based on the incremental growth of the existing local Transient Occupancy Tax, a tax on hotel rooms."

It’s becoming pretty clear why Trump hasn’t declassified FISA docs, exposed Dem corruption, etc.

Looks like he’s saving it to use as a defense mechanism against the Dem controlled house.
Consider this: He didn’t do a whole lot of campaigning for House seats, likely figuring that Dems would win it either way.

That means for the past year, he’s been strategizing about how to handle a Dem-controlled House.
Dems might think they’re in charge now, but with all the dirt in hand, we know who’s really in charge.
