Worth noting that one of the brothers has an association with the Empire tv show, and multiple outlets have reported has had a direct association with Smollett.
Further, worth noting that JS has repeatedly identified his alleged attackers as white and motivated by racism.

Two realistic options in the Smollett case given current info:
1) 2 guys who knew him decided to assault him. He then misled the public and police about the nature and motivation for the assault.
2) Smollett and 2 guys he knew planned a fake assault, & he lied to public/police.

I'm not really sure why anyone thinks 1 is particularly better than 2 for Smollett or the people who jumped to conclusions despite the suspicious nature of the original facts. Both create a very bad look for Smollett and his defenders/promoters.
