As to be expected, @realDonaldTrump lied many times when trying to justify his unlawful #FakeTrumpEmergency to get his border wall.

Here are the facts on just a few of them, because no matter how often he lies, we can't ever allow these brazen lies to go unchecked. 1/

TRUMP: "They say it all comes through the port of entry. It's wrong. It's wrong. It's just a lie."

FACT: Well, per @CBP, 90% of heroin, 87% of meth, and 80% of fentanyl seizures by border officials were trying to be smuggled across the border at legal ports of entry. 2/

TRUMP: *does the El Paso lies again*

FACT: The fence at the U.S.-Mexico border at El Paso went up after decades in a decline of crime in the already-safe El Paso. In fact, crime ticked *up* just a bit in El Paso shortly after the fence was constructed. 3/

TRUMP: *repeats weird duct-tape myth*

FACT: It appears that @realDonaldTrump got these fictional stories from a fictional movie.

TRUMP: "You don't have to be very smart to know you put up a barrier, the people come in, & that's it. They can't do anything, unless they walk left or right, and they find an area where there's no barrier & they come into the United States. Welcome."

FACT: True. Weird flex. 5/

TRUMP: “We have an invasion of drugs, invasion of gangs, invasion of people and it's unacceptable.”

FACT: Undocumented border crossings are at near-historic lows. Not an “invasion” by any stretch of the imagination.

TRUMP: "We want to stop criminals and gangs from coming into our country."

FACT: Trump is again misleadingly tying immigrants to crime. Immigrants (both documented AND undocumented) are convicted of crimes at lower rates than the general population.

TRUMP: "I want to do it faster. I could do the wall over a longer period of time. I didn't need to do this. But I'd rather do it much faster."

FACT: You just undercut your entire argument for declaring a national emergency. 👍🏽
