fallout after FO3 mocks an advertising culture as if it were the past. it isn't. it got worse. "eat Kradbury donuts - chock full of Vitamins" was just the immature form of it. all advertising is as disgusting and false as the 50s.
it's why we "respect the hustle" because it turns out none of us ever had a problem with promotion, we just hate lies. we know the corporate product is made of the wrong plastic and will break. we know the electronics are piss poor. we know the food is 45% soy filler.
turns out humans love each other and understand easch other and everyone understands that everyone's gotta eat and so on and so advertising was never the problem, Advertising was. the idea that anyone can run a college course on marketing is revolting. it's fucking immoral.
applying science to "making people buy things" was where shit really, really went wrong, as in, became the spectre of the inevitable violent death of our species
it stopped, at some point, being the hustle. it stopped being some men trying to get by in the world and became people taking advantage of other people through lies and if you look at that 50s advertising that's where they said the quiet part loud. donuts with vitamins, fuck off
that was back when they'd just lie. the donuts probably didn't contain vitamins. they could just lie, and that was normal, to just defraud people on the daily with your nice magazine lithographs
fuck them fuck all of them fuck all those old men who are even older or dead now fuck everyone involved in marketing fuck sales fuck advertising fuck liars and the lies they tell fuck them for their fucking refusal to have sleepless nights over the people they ruin
but nothing changed, nothing changed. the 30s, the 50s, the 80s, now, nothing changed. a lie is a lie is a lie. they do not grow better or worse with age, they just remain lies.
