Inspired by @levelsio and @AndreyAzimov , I decided to publish the whole process of creating my side project (Stumbs).

Recently I posted my first Upcoming Page on Product Hunt. I started learning #RubyOnRails last year and the result of this is Stumbs, a community for sharing restaurants and local brand stores that you stumbled across while travelling or exploring your hometown.
The project is not over yet, I will use this thread to post the current status and all updates until the @ProductHunt release. For now, I have developed the following features:
🙃 Register and authenticate users
🌇 Post new places
🌍 Integration with the Google Places API to recognize the address from the place name
✈️ Filter by country and city
💬 Comment
🏷 Tagging system
In the coming weeks I intend to complete these features before making the beta release official:
🏡 Add "Category" to the database
🤝 Add relationship system
😎 Create profile page
🎨 Create upload page UI
⭐️ Create collection system
📸 Migrate from Paperclip to Active Storage

This morning I attacked my problem of showing hierarchical clusters without just making a dendrogram tree (left pic). Lots of plots were made in through the course of the day to get to the plot on the right, so I decided to show the whole process #dataviz 1/5
First approach was putting the unclustered graph into Large Graph Layout. I have to consult my own blogpost to run the program, so I guess write for yourself clairemcwhite.github.io/lgl-guide/. The graph is too dense for even the magic bullet of LGL to get good separation w/o clustering 2/5
Next series of plots in R with ggraph, still using unclustered graph. The graph is too dense to all of these, but they look cool. 3/5

THREAD: I got a notice from the electric company the other day. They warned me that my contract was expiring in a month, and I needed to select a new plan. Today I attempted to do that. What a mess.
When I got to the website, I was presented with three plans. Each plan had its good points and bad points. Each had the average rate. But the rate was based on 2000 kwh per month. We NEVER use that much electricity.
Over the years that we’ve lived here, we’ve added a radiant barrier and insulation in the attic, a new efficient HVAC system, double pane insulated windows and double pain insulated doors. On the hottest month of summer, with the A/C running all the time, we don’t use 2000 kwh.
