gab user ‘whiteboner’ is a racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, anti-semitic white supremacist who for the past year and a half has focused almost exclusively on trying to ‘prove’ james fields did not kill heather heyer.

whiteboner posts videos on youtube on a channel called “alt right truth.” and the truth is, this youtube account would be a big part of his undoing.

on his youtube channel, he’s posted nearly 40 videos arguing that the vehicular attack that killed heather heyer & injured dozens of others was “an accident.” he uses footage of the attack and crude animated recreations (these will be important latbiPB

his gab account, like his youtube account, is devoted almost entirely to his conspiracy theories - posting updates about his videos & vigorously defending his theories from commenters. but he also posts a lot about how vaccines are a jewish conspiracy to hurt white familisljS

i honestly never cared much about whiteboner. he was sort of on my radar during the fields trial - despite having none of the facts, he also put out a podcast about the trial as it was happening. but i was obviously a little busy during the trial & didn't have time for him.

i'd forgotten about him, mostly, until he popped back up recently interacting with jack corbin. they’re both still hard at work trying to identify people present during what they both call a “car accident.”

so who is he? anyone who is this online, posting this much content across so many platforms, has surely left us some breadcrumbs. i started simply - just google that gross username. a lot of people use the same handle on multiple platforms.

ah, a reddit user. unsurprising. not a big post history, though. he’s really, really into some game called batman arkham knight. likes to brag about his scores & wants to connect with other users on steiFFD

bragging is so often a man’s undoing. our new friend david is so eager to show other redditors how good he is at the batman game that he’s already linked the whiteboner identity to a first name. hello, david.

further linking the two identities, one of only five reddit posts made by user whiteboner is... the same antisemitic antivax meme he has posted repeatedly on gab.

let’s pop over to steam and see what david’s up to with his fellow gamers. not a ton, apparently, but we have comments here linking to the same imgur image that show the same scores & dates as the reddit posts, confirming steam user david is redditor whitebonnLaJ

now when i got this far, i assumed this picture was fake. surely this is a red herring. it was not, but i didn’t know that yet. i’d hit a bit of a dead end. none of the steam groups gave me anything to go on. so i gave up. did some laundry. read the city council agenda.

but i had whiteboner on my mind now, unfortunately. i thought maybe watching one of his videos would give me something. i was reluctant to watch them - they’re very boring and the sound of his voice isn’t exactly soothing.

i went back to his gab page and clicked a link to one of his videos. and then i noticed something very simple and very obvious that i'd somehow overlooked.

see, even people with pretty good security practices forget this a lot. many platforms allow you to change your display name but don’t update the URL for your profile accordingly.

so, this altright truth channel belongs to a user called ‘cameronfansite.’ and it has since… 2008? an online footprint that old is a goldmine. i can guarantee you this man was using the handle ‘cameronfansite’ on multiple sites a decade ago. so, back to google.

there were a few false leads, including a facebook fan page for an actress named dove cameron, but cameronfansite left a trail a mile long and half a mile wide through the internet in the early 2010's.

user cameronfansite on a 9/11 truth forum was a sure hit. not only is 9/11 truth a very common feature among older millennial/boomer alt righters, but this kind of obsessive conspiracy shit is exactly whiteboner’s brand.

here we got a location, michigan, and a huge break - a link to his eponymous james cameron fan site! jackpot, right? people were not nearly as careful ten years ago, this old blogger site is sure to be a rich source of information. but… it’s gone.

don’t worry -- nothing is ever truly gone on the internet. a quick trip to the wayback machine takes us to this 2011 snapshot of a blog post. and here it is my friends - this james cameron fan is not only publishing blogs under his real name, he’s self published a book!

the link to the bookseller in his blog is dead, but that, too, can be found in the internet archive. and the book is actually still available on amazon.

the author of this james cameron fan book also lives in michigan, just like our cameronfansite 9/11 truther. it's all coming together.

oh dear. david wrote the article. he also replied 48 times in the comments, writing more words in angry, misogynistic defense of the article than there are words in the (angry, misogynistic) article itself

david brennan owns tactile portrait productions and posts comments on men's rights forums with his work email in them as davidSNESGAMER.

so remember 'the great rebellion,' his other book (the one that wasn't a 427 page biography of director james cameron)? apparently he commissioned some artists to illustrate a graphic novel he wrote the story for. the flickr album he made to give them direction is... something!

i can only imagine what his ex's two adult sons think of him. i don't deal in doxxing innocent family members, but even if i wanted to, i could only show you a handful of photos of them together. it doesn't appear to have been a happy situation.
