@pmdfoster @CER_Grant @JohnGPeet @StevePeers @jonlis1 What no one seems to be noticing is that a 2-3 month extension only makes sense if Parliament approves the deal v soon: the EP's last session ends on 18 April, and without EP approval the WA cannot enter into force.1/
So this takes us into July, with a new EP having to approve. No one knows what that EP will look like, and can't see the EU making any meaningful changes in times of EP elections.2/
It is therefore becoming rather urgent to think about ways to extend beyond June, without forcing the UK to hold EP elections, which currently make no sense.3/
I think non-UK participation can be justified, but it would need an EU act, possibly on the basis of Art 50 (as part of the European Council's extension decision?). END
