This sounds ugly and frightening. Violence should have no place in politics as who knows where it can lead.
Politics is often frenetic and childish, and it can get out of hand - but there are lines and violence is the reddest one.

Ultimately, democracy unravels quickly when basic rules of civility are abandoned.
I hope we get back to a place (maybe my version of an imaginary past?) when people listen a bit more and do ‘good vs evil’ a bit less. I feel that our politics has coarsened and simplified and nobody is benefiting.
I don’t know whether the result will be more violent attacks or not. I really hope not. But still we need to remember we are humans first and Brexiteers/Remainers/Reds/Blues etc etc etc second
One of the wonders of democratic politics is that it channels our violent instincts into something constructive and (relatively) civil. So it’s tribal but, when it works, tribes with ballots not bows and arrows
Feeling particularly sad tonigh as a boy from my old school was stabbed to death. It’s not the same thing but these events can lead to moments of clarity
