OK, went down the regional governance rabbit hole again...I should really stop this.

There are three municipalities in Peel (1.38 million), five in Halton (0.55 million), eight in Durham (0.65 million) & nine in York (1.11 million).

Mississauga is approximately 0.8 million. 1/4
Remove Mississauga from Peel & Peel's population goes down to about 0.65 million ... around the same as Durham.

But Durham is 8 municipalities and now Peel is only 2.

But if this new Peel is merged with Halton, there will be 7 local municipalities, 1.1 million population. 2/4
This would put Mississauga in an interesting situation. It'd be a single tier municipality with control of its own revenues but could have much of its infrastructure (initially) in the control of Peel-Halton (with its new larger population & more land for housing development).3/4

I know some of y'all liked my threads analyzing all the little visual details in #TheExpanse this last season. I had a sudden urge to rewatch the first season so I'm going to do the same for those. Let's call this #SomeThingsINoticed.
In this image of Earth in the title sequence, there are a lot of lights in an area of Iran/Afghanistan/Pakistan that is mostly unpopulated desert in the real world. I'd imagine as things got more crowded people started living in less hospitable places.
The effects of climate change on Earth are shown as polar ice melts and Liberty Island is completely flooded. #TheExpanse

2/ There are several layers of irony here. Before getting to those let me say that I think it would be a big mistake for the US to try to prosecute him, mainly for precedent and 1st am reasons. But also because we have no interest in validating his martyr complex.
3/ As for the ironies, Assange didn’t seem ‘asylum’ over a threat of US prosecution. He was there to be evade prosecution for rape. The bogeyman of us prosecution was always there to provide a veneer of principle to the more mundane aim of not answering rape charges.
