Tomorrow is my last day in the @BuzzFeed office — something that is still hard to say! Here’s a little photo trip through some of the most amazing memories I made and history I saw during my seven years with @BuzzFeedNews (even before there was a BuzzFeed News)! #tbt
Edie Windsor! What an incredible woman. I’m so privileged that I got to know this woman — and her similarly get-it-done lawyer @kaplanrobbie. buzzfeednews.com/article/chrisg…
Covering #Prop8 was a journey that began when I was writing at Law Dork in Columbus, Ohio, and continued through my time at Metro Weekly and into my time at BuzzFeed. The plaintiffs—Kris, Sandy, Jeff, and Paul—were, like all of the marriage plaintiffs, so full of stories to tell.
Thanks, @BuzzFeedBen, for the opportunity of a lifetime. We had a lot of fun, and I’ll never forget the chance you gave me to tell some of the biggest stories of the past decade.
I was honored to get to tell Jim and John’s story. As an Ohioan who came to DC, there was something that felt right to me about the national marriage story centering on an Ohio couple fighting to the end of life, and then past it, for equality. buzzfeednews.com/article/chrisg…
And then, on June 26, 2015, it happened. buzzfeednews.com/article/chrisg…
I covered more and more of the work of the Supreme Court, a privilege and responsibility that I truly was honored to do.
I interviewed the attorney general and the president — aboard a plane and in the Roosevelt Room, respectively.
Throughout it all, I often got to talk on your TVs about all of the things, just trying to use what I know to help tell more people what I thought was happening at any given time.
And, best of all — though maybe only historic in my mind — I got to work with such an incredible group of people of these years.
I mean. Come on. How lucky was I? @mattstopera @RosieGray @__keating @dominicholden @MiriamElder ! The brains ! The talent ! The fun !
If all of this change came as a surprise to you — SORRY! We announced the news last week, and you can find more here:
As for the other part — the “what’s next?” — more on that tomorrow! For now, I’m just going to end by saying that it has been a humbling privilege to do my job these past years, and I am so grateful that you all listened and read and RTed and more. Thanks.
