People are sitting at home all day working, so you can’t bet on their forming bonds getting them past the early days in the company. You need to manage energy levels, create opportunities for bonding, and make onboarding useful.
2. Make it flexible

Make your onboarding process modular, so you can keep iterating in small increments. Just like microservices.

Different time zones also require flexibility. Make sure to provide opportunities for facilitated and individual learning whenever possible.

Alle haben sowieso einen Laptop. Kurzfristig lässt sich aber auch ein Desktop-Rechner nach Hause umziehen. Bei uns gibt es zudem 800€ Budget für Monitor(e), ergonomischen Stuhl, Tisch etc. Ist für AG steuerfrei.
Meetings liefen bei @eyeo und einem Team in über 20 Ländern schon immer über Videokonferenz. Es gibt bessere und schlechtere Tools (Stabilität, Datenschutz), aber GoToMeeting, BlueJeans, Microsoft Teams oder wenns sein muss auch Zoom sind schnell aufgesetzt und kosten nicht viel.

Global implementation of #remotework in 2021. These are the challenges we face:
1. Investing in technology and training: a study in Latin America in 2020 (conducted with 815 leaders in the region) found that only 22% of companies work fully remotely. That’s a very poor percentage. More technology investments are needed to shape the future of work.
2. Developing new skills: the @wef predicts that 50% of employees will need retraining by 2025 as technology adoption increases. Furthermore, the main ‘soft competence’ requested is change adaptation.

First of all, when I talk about #APIs, I mean HTTP-based interfaces connecting apps and backend servers as well as different services with each other. For now, the technical details, such as whether they use REST, GraphQL, gRPC etc., shall not matter. (1/100)
When humans interact with computers they require a user interface (UI), and when machines interact with each other they need application programming interfaces (APIs). At the end of the day, however, these have to be implemented by humans. Good #APIDesign considers both. (2/100)
