I had resolved not to comment further on the GoFundMe issue but I need to purge my mind of the issues. Here’s the sequence of events. @segalink first pointed people to “the OFFICIAL GoFundMe link”, where they can donate “for supporting the defense of HE Atiku’s mandate.” Thread.. 
I was then informed that Atiku’s official spokesperson had disowned the GoFundMe effort and even alerted GoFundMe of that fact. As @segalink had said he wasn’t the one that set up the account, I then said he must have been mistaken that it was an OFFICIAL effort. I tweeted thus:
Surprisingly, @segalink then said he had not made a mistake. He insisted he had supported a “legitimate bid to raise funds in show of support for justice.” The first tweet said “OFFICIAL.” The second tweet said “Legitimate.” Important difference.
As I was trying to digest this is my mind, @segalink pointed out that a beneficiary of a fundraising effort need not be aware of the effort. Then @Papadonkee said it had never been presented as an OFFICIAL fundraising effort for Atiku. Check the two tweets. Is it official or not?
Confirming that he too supported it, @Papadonkee said they “were under no illusion that it was an ‘official’ GoFundMe account.” He said my initial tweet cleared @segalink but indicts others. @segalink said he didn’t make a mistake. At this point, I was thoroughly lost.
I pointed out to @Papadonkee that @segalink had said it was an official GoFundMe account. @Papadonkee then said if @segalink had said so (which he did) then @segalink was mistaken. Recall that @segalink had said there was no mistake. So now, I didn’t know which is which.
One thing is clear though. The ways of politicians are not our ways. Their thoughts are not our thoughts. The impartial technocrat will always struggle to fathom their real motives, which can be disguised in various ways. That is why I will now be remaining firmly in my lane. End
