A modest proposal to advance the cause of political civility. I call it the @jimmykimmel Mean Tweet Rule. Before voting for a bill supported by the President, a member of Congress must stand before the C-Span camera and read aloud every mean, Presidential tweet about them.
@jimmykimmel The only downside is that this would add hours to any voting process either house went through.
@jimmykimmel The rule would allow Republican leaders to show just how independently minded they are, that they could read into the record every nasty thing Trump has said about them, and yet still vote each time for his agenda. Profiles in courage, all.
@jimmykimmel If the POTUS was a rational, socially-competent person, then this would incentivize them to, um, Be Best on Twitter. I doubt it would work this way with Trump, however. It would probably encourage him to Tweet more nastily so he could feast on the public humiliation of others.
