Have I mentioned that I don’t like the Drax from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, because he’s so nerfed?

The original Drax could tear the other Guardians to bits, really. Gamorra might slow him down, but HE’S INDESTRUCTIBLE.

Drax was CREATED with the sole purpose and drive to DESTROY THANOS. This was problematic, because although nearly indestructible, Drax really wasn’t powerful enough to destroy Thanos.

I’m fairly sure that Gamorra can kill (almost) anything, since she’s the best assassin in the universe, and also has—through Thanos—a direct connection to DEATH.

But Drax the Destroyer is NOT ALIVE. He’s a construct, although certainly intelligent. But he CANNOT be KILLED.

But—and this is deeper into the symbolism—Drax as mere non-death, cannot defeat death.

Only a force of life can defeat death.

Thanos is a champion of death.

And Captain Marvel, with his cosmic awareness, was able be, in a way Drax never could, a champion of all life.

The HORROR of the current movie is that it is NATURAL ACCORDING TO STORY that Thanos face Captain Marvel — BUT NOT CAROL DANVERS! She doesn’t fit!

Simply put, Carol Danvers … is not really Captain Marvel. Just as, I’m sorry, Monica Rambeau was not Captain Marvel.

They have as much to do with Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell, as the Captain Marvel than says “SHAZAM!” does. Nothing in common but the name.

Well, Carol was the “female knock-off” of him, as Ms. Marvel.

Much like She-Hulk.

So, yes, they decided to make a feminist icon out of one of the slew of characters that was basically a clone of a pre-existing male character.

Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) was became a COSMIC hero.

Carol Danvers never did. She was an energy using brick that could beat the crap out of people, but never COSMIC.

Chris Claremont kind of tried, when he made her Binary, but it didn’t work.

I rather liked Carol Danvers Captain Marvel as she was portrayed in the 2nd season of the Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes animated series.

She was a fine character there.

I took some screenshots of that before they altered the software to forbid taking screenshots.

*sigh*

I mean, all I did with screenshots is share moments.

How could this POSSIBLY hurt their business? I’m not making any money, and if anything it might make people want to watch it.

I mean, THAT is a great line.

They wrote it so that Hawkeye was … well … a bit of a dick.

BECAUSE HE IS.

Or can be.

They had a very interesting take on Banner vs the Hulk in the series.

And they DO Captain Marvel RIGHT.

She works for SWORD, which is the version of SHIELD that fends off aliens.

The Kree hit earth, and they send Carol. She gives a good fight, but is overpowered by Ronin.

Inevitably the Avengers confront him, but HER fight isn’t over.

She makes herself felt IMMEDIATELY as a HEROIC and MORAL authority.

In other words, we don’t have to be TOLD that Captain Marvel is a HERO.

We are SHOWN.

She actually is given this position by saying what CAPTAIN AMERICA WOULD SAY (except at this point in the show he’s a skrull).

So, because Cap has be skrulled, there is sort of a “Captain America” void in the Avengers, and Carol momentarily steps into it (even though they have no idea who she is).

But she’s talking to Ronin. It’s her fight before it was the Avengers.

The Hulk with an axe, just because.

Here she is.

Not a Mary Sue.

First fight, Ronin WRECKS her.

She takes the Ultimate Weapon to the face.

OUCH!

BUT—because it is the SUPERHERO genre—she gets her second shot at Ronin and the Ultimate Weapon.

THAT’S HOW STORIES WORK.

The hero needs to be (almost) defeated, and THEN TURN IT AROUND.

A hero that never loses isn’t a hero at all.

Rocket Raccoon came off not looking absurd in the animated series.

As a general rule, grabbing Captain America with a whip-like thing is a bad idea.

The result is not that he’s tied to YOU, but that you are tied to HIM.
