North Korea says Trump missed a “golden opportunity” in Hanoi.

I don’t know that I’d call that entirely accurate — it was always likely to fail regardless — but Trump’s all-or-nothing demands definitely rankled the North Korean delegation. 2/3

No, I’m not concerned that Weissman is leaving Mueller’s team soon. Weissman was the leading prosecutor on Manafort’s case, which is done. He’s going to spend the rest of his life in prison between fed and state charges. 1/4

Mueller’s team still has 10+ prosecutors. It’s kind of silly to suggest that because one or two are leaving after two years of nonstop investigation that NOTHING else is going to happen. 2/4
There are a bunch of threads to this story that we still haven’t seen the ending to. I find it hard to believe that Mueller is going to say, “welp, Weissman is gone, guess we’re done here. Gates, Flynn, Nader, Jr., etc. you guys are free to go!” 3/4

Here is an odd tale from Italy. Last night deputy prime minister Luigi Di Maio wrote an angry Facebook post claiming the text of a tax pardon bill agreed by cabinet had been changed on its way to Italy's president, with measures aiding tax evasion added facebook.com/LuigiDiMaio/po…
Italy's presidency says it has received no such text (). On Italian TV last night, Di Maio showed the additional lines that he says hadn't been agreed by cabinet (corriere.it/politica/18_ot…)
PM Conte says he is going to read the bill line by line. Di Maio that he will take the issue to court. Lega denies knowing anything, saying "it's a serious party." Beyond the weirdness, the incident is a reminder that Lega-M5S could crack any time for the oddest of pretexts

Last night: I argued bail on 8 cases in 20 minutes. Also last night: Manafort’s attorneys submitted a 9 page bail response, filed 5 days after Mueller requested to revoke release, all of which will be argued in a robust hearing next Friday, while he remains at liberty. 2 systems.

1. The bromide you hear about people carrying on suffering that you don't know about: extremely true. One should assume that every jerk, insufferable, seemingly arrogant person within acquaintance is being tortured by something that, if known, would urge mitigation & compassion.
2. Every society is sick; health is beginning to know how yours is sick. The same is true of every human soul.
