My bravery in speaking truth to power on the supremacy of Savannah Smiles as the best Girl Scout cookie has brought out a vicious twitter mob of Thin Mint loyalists but I shall not be moved
I have now received word that this is possibly the last year the Girl Scouts will be selling Savannah Smiles so please excuse me during this period of mourning while I remove everything else from our pantry and stockpile these lemony delights for the future

Honestly I’m glad to see more players getting in the faces of fans who do this. You shouldn’t have to let someone get away with tit. If any grown man other than my father called me “boy” *especially* a white person, things are not ending well.
There’s often a bizarre expectation in the context of black performance—whether athletic or artistic—that a person should simply ignore someone heckling them, even in the context of outright racism. That’s BS. The more someone does it w/o consequence the more it emboldens others.
The rule in every sporting arena should be if you heckle a player with some racist or in any way hateful language you’re banned for life. Period.

Some low-income students clean the bathrooms of their more affluent peers, have no food to eat during spring break, and enter through a separate door at school events. I wrote about how elite colleges are systemically failing their disadvantaged students. theatlantic.com/education/arch…
At some of the top universities in the country, there are policies in place that reify & amplify the class differences between their students. As a result, low-income students are constantly sent messages, both systemic & interpersonal, that they don’t belong at these schools.
Many elite schools have historically been built with the specific intention of serving the wealthy, as a result they often overlook, or simply ignore, the needs of students coming from intergenerational poverty.

I know there can be the temptation from some to want these parents to go to prison for a long time to pay for what they did, but I would really push folks to interrogate where that desire is coming from. As was relevant with the Manafort case, punishment shouldn't be zero sum.
It can be true that these parents did a terrible thing and that they need to make amends *and* that sending them to prison for a long time won't make anything better. We shouldn't want wealthy people going to prison for longer, we should want poor people getting more mercy.
Prisons are terrible terrible terrible places that we should be constantly working to make less relevant in our society.

A NY Times story today confirmed that Obama admin spied on Trump campaign affiliates in 2016.
2. "The F.B.I. obtained phone records and other documents using a secret type of subpoena. And at least one government informant met several times with Mr. Page and Mr. Papadopoulos."

A "government informant" is an euphemism for a spy.
3. Previously we had been fed the lie that FBI opened an investigation into Trump campaign based on testimony from an Australian diplomat. But NY Times story opens with the stunning admission that FBI opened an investigation BEFORE meeting with the Australian diplomat.

As a #lesbian, I hope people will stand with/for me.
They don't always, because being an ally takes work.
But I welcome allies, no matter how long it takes folks to get there.
We must believe in people being able to #change.
None of us has perfect politics nor personal lives.
Every day people change.
People who were racists realize they were wrong.
Men who were misogynists realize women are people.
Homophobes realize they were wrong.

We all have the power to realize we have been wrong and to change.
Embrace change.
It's how we heal the world.
