Tomorrow will be opening statements in the murder trial of #AntwonRose. His mom had to leave the courtroom sobbing during pre-trial motions as the defense described their plan to put Antwon on trial for his own murder. A familiar strategy— first they kill the body then the name.
The only thing that actually matters in the #MichaelRosfeld trial is the first five seconds of this clip. Under the law if Rosfeld did not perceive a threat that necessitated the use of deadly force then he was guilty of murder when he pulled the trigger.
Murder cases shouldn’t be about the character of the victim— but regardless #AntwonRose was an exceptional kid. He was an AP honors student, a poet, a loving uncle, a political volunteer, generous and well liked— never being accused or convicted of any crime whatsoever.
Despite Court orders to refrain from releasing false and unsubstantiated allegations of misbehavior by Antwon to the media— the defense has repeatedly and intentionally offered these false statements in the presence of the media in an attempt to assassinate Antwon’s character.
The truth is this is #AntwonRose. No matter how hard defense counsel works to destroy his memory in order to justify his murder— his story will be told by the community that knew him.
The legacy that Antwon created for himself will not be wiped away for the benefit of a brutal cop.
#AntwonRose left his footprints all over the city of Pittsburgh. Those voices will speak for him in death and demand justice.
#AntwonRose speaks for himself beyond the grave and his voice will not be silenced.
