Ok, this evening I'll head to Oren's Hummus at about 8pm. If anyone wants to meet and talk maps, it seems like a reasonable starting point and within walking distance for me .... no idea how busy it gets.

X : We were hoping you might step up to the shortlist. Though we're concerned about practical experience.
Me : You clearly have no idea who you're talking to. I'll make some recommendations.
X : They've got to be good, blue chip experience and top school MBA.
Me : I thought you were looking for someone good at strategy?
X : We are. Only the best and we're willing to pay.
Me : You know you've got mug written across your face?
Me : How does MBA, 5 years Mckinsey, 15 years Oracle, big multi-billion projects, teams of 800+, willing to work for top dollar sound?
X : Can we afford them?
Me : No but you will.
X : Would you recommend them?
Me : For you, yes. It'll be a valuable life lesson for the future.

X : How do you place something on the value chain in a Wardley map?
Me : The chain is actually a chain of needs, this needs that, a partial ordered list. The y-axis is pure scaffolding, to help people get started with mapping ... nothing more. The only "real" axis is the x-axis.
... I only keep the y axis because it helps people getting started and it has become habit. Once you get used to mapping, you can dump the y axis ... you don't need it other than a reminder of lower order systems create higher order systems.
X : Where did the y-axis come from?
Me : My early maps didn't have a y-axis. I only included it because people kept on asking "what's the y axis" and couldn't seem to cope with the idea of position described through a chain of needs ...

Having a wander around St Kilda, it's a sleepy town compared to the hustle and bustle that was Seattle. The pace of life appears much more gentle.
It also appears to be a place in some transition. Certain parts are quite run down but populated by people. Other parts (i.e. the beach front) contain many beautiful buildings but they seem devoid of life.
What is also noticeable is the number of former houses converted into flats ... given how much space there is in Australia, I'll guess that some have manufactured an artificial housing crisis?

Using 2018 as a base, total spending is $3.6 trillion, assume 8 percent increase with more access to uninsured and under-insured. That adds $300 billion.
The amount coming from private insurance is a bit over $1.2 trillion. I would also look to get out of pocket down to 1 percent of GDP ($200b). That gives us $180b, plus the $300b of additional usage gets us $1.68 tr to make up.

1/ The Ogden – This is going to be a long thread, because we received some new details about the Ogden in Wednesday's release, and I'm going to break it down for you because it's important.

2/ The Ogden is some of the strongest evidence that other people were somehow involved. Paddock rented FOUR condos (not three), with four overlapping nights. And that's just at the Ogden.
3/ His room at Mandalay overlapped with the Ogden for 3 additional nights, which means he had duplicate rooms for SEVEN different nights leading up to the attack, and one of those nights, 9/21, he actually had three condos rented, and he didn't even sleep at the Ogden that night!

Casey hesitated, reviewing how she'd left everything at the house. Could it stand alone for a day? A week?

The last evac had been five days. She'd returned home to find a family of raccoons had taken up residence in her bathroom.

She walked through her last moments at home.

An alarm sounded in the distance. The fire buoys.
