GA. Sen. @kirkpatrickdk 's condescending comments make no sense when she tells @ericgeller why she voted for BMDs which experts agree cannot generate auditable results. She believes that voters are responsible for testing the machine accuracy. Huh? and blames those of us ...1/
2/ who can't memorize 30 things on the ballot screen to "verify" that the machine accurately printed the ballot card. She cam shame me all she wants, but it is not going to make me have a photographic memory to "verify" my ballot. When I don't verify mine, then it ...
3/ taints the whole ballot box, because only 100% verified ballots can be audited. Plus, even if we all get photographic memories in time for the election, who is going to MAKE all those people in a hurry verify their ballots?
4/ Who will know whether they caught all the errors the machine made? What if I report an error? How will I make the poll manager believe me? Is the poll manager just supposed to rip the machine out of service? A few malicious bogus reports can shut down a polling place.
5/ And will I have to show my ballot to the pollworker to show the error? And give up my right to a secret ballot? Why would a strong R like @kirkpatrickdk think it is the gov't's role to MAKE us all test the machines and give up our right to secret ballot if there is a problem?

Thanks @rickhasen for exposing this issue for debate. @philipbstark & @rad_atl & @OSET, please weigh in here. What is missing is the understanding that the BMD (sometimes barcoded) ballot is not a reliable source record for auditing. BMD proponents are missing that point.
Thanks to @rickhasen blog, I saw this Tweet response from Becker that he blocks me from seeing. The bill does indeed require audits---audits that CANNOT be performed according to auditing experts (and common sense.) The ballot cannot be verified by the voter = unauditable.

Experts agree: there's no national emergency at the southern border. wapo.st/2VjQOaG Claiming that there is one, when there are no facts to support it, is destructive in a host of important ways.
Politicizing intelligence and national security is always a bad idea. It leads to distortion of facts, misleading arguments, bad policy, and worsening foreign relations. It can undermine Constitutional protections and - in the worst cases - lead to unnecessary loss of life.
One of the most disheartening things about natsec and intel discourse these days is seeing people try to manipulate natsec/intel/LE issues for domestic partisan purposes. That misunderstands natsec culture, and does a disservice to the nation.

Two days ago I compared Per-capita GDP of all states relative to India PCI for 2004-05 & 2017-18

Since then conversations with @PoliteVersion and links to an RBI source permit me to make some changes to the analysis I had shared
Two Tweaks to earlier exercise

1. Use of 2017-18 numbers for all states (earlier used 17-18 numbers for most states, but 2016-17 for some)

2. Comparison over time using both Constant prices & Current prices
Now 1 is definitely something we should do.

So let us first make Change 1 and see how results change (while still using "current" prices)

The basic narrative does not change. Telengana remains the state with the biggest jump. But Gujarat now does much better than before

It couldn’t be any clearer what Republicans in states like GA and TX are doing. They are purposely undermining voting rights for Black and Latino Americans. Here’s how they’re doing it:

Under the Brand Endorsement Agreement, K2 customers will continue enjoying the same or similar services with a different code prefix (0708). The customer migration will be voluntary. Customers will exercise their contractual right to either move to Airtel or not.
