Celebrity attorneys Michael Avenatti and Mark Geragos proposed to federal prosecutors in Brooklyn last week that Avenatti provide them with info in exchange for a “benefit” to Geragos's client, Seagram's heiress Clare Bronfman, Judge Garaufis said Thursday.
Their proposal occurred March 19, the judge said, the same day Avenatti is alleged to have threatened to extort sportswear company Nike, a matter for which he was charged by Manhattan federal prosecutors on Monday.
No details about what type of information Avenatti proposed to provide or what benefit the attorneys sought for Clare Bronfman were disclosed during the court proceeding.
Bronfman said in court that Avenatti is no longer involved in her case.
