(1) So why did we bring these swamp creatures to David Bernhardt's confirmation hearing for Interior Secretary this morning? Well... Bernhardt is a former oil and gas lobbyist who previously worked to help corporate polluters get their hands on public lands.
(2) Now he's about to become head of the Interior Department — which would put him in charge of the very same public lands and waters that he worked to get access to as an oil & gas lobbyist.
(3) Trump campaigned hard on the idea of “draining the swamp”. As we know, he's done the exact opposite — and Bernhardt might be the most blatant example of that. bit.ly/2TFZPKf
(4) We don’t call him a walking conflict of interest for nothing. In fact, the oil and gas industry is openly gleeful about having one of their champions in a position of power. politi.co/2FEo1aV
(5) It was also just recently revealed that he & his former lobbying firm have donated almost $1 million to senators who will vote on his confirmation since 2013, including more than $225,000 to members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. bit.ly/2V0nS7T
(6) From suppressing scientific research to working to expand the development of fossil fuels, Bernhardt also refuses to acknowledge the serious, human made impacts of the climate crisis. ampr.gs/2OvYAfv
(7) It couldn't be any more clear that David Bernhardt should be the LAST person to overlook America's public lands, water and wildlife. YOU can still #StopBernhardt by calling your Senator at 1-213-335-2077 & telling them to reject Bernhardt’s confirmation!
