It's not enough to ridicule your country all the time... especially without thorough investigation and know how about subject matter.
But I know a lot of people are not reasoning properly after we mostly took sides politically
The rail in question is just about 500+ passengers. Lagos Abeokuta is been tested at 260, with capacity expected to go high after completing
Also, about half of the rail track is just like Nigeria's Standard gauge
1. An upgrade of old line and
2. Will run just as ours. Until 2020 when it will be totally rebuilt
The rail in morroco, half of which was upgraded will cost about 20 billion dirhans. That's about 750 billion Naira. At CBN rate (305), that's about 2.46 Billion US Dollars.
Lagos to IB is about $1.53 billion for 156KM
Abuja KD is about $0.88bn for 187Km
1. It cost FGN $2.41bn to build 343KM with about 20 stations
2. It cost morroco $2.46bn to build 323KM with lesser stations.
However, I am of the opinion that simple arithmetic doesn't determine prices of such infrastructure
Assuming you are a Builder, will you, all other things being equal, apart from volatility of youths, build a house of same design in Warri for the price of Ijebu Ode?
Will you? If No, then you know one reason why the rails aren't at same rate
Do you know how many bridges the Lagos Ibadan route of the Nigeria's rail has.??
Do you have an idea of of the ratio of difference in price of bride to mere ground works.. it could be as much as 20:1
Until you analyse the full scope of work, you don't come out to speak all this your comparative thrash... surely aimed at making the rail project look bad afterall...
It started with @benmurraybruce anyway
Running at 100kmph and can move even up to 150-200 kmph as time goes on...
Air conditioned
I really begin to ask myself, what the purpose of you tweet actually is
It's okay, morroco is doing better than us.. but it doesn't translate to we doing rubbish..
Germany is going renewable, does it mean if we can achieve gas power sustainability we are stupid?
The end result is Key.
Not some theatrics of Nigeria has a speed rail.. it must solve real problems...
London subway rail is reported to operate at below 40kmph
Northeast corridor rail also in the U.S. does about 200Kmph max for majority of its rail cars except one.
In summary, you can't downplay the new rails been put up with the country, they will be recorded as improvement
That's what we should be criticising our sub national governments for, those who we know have the economic muscle to push through such deals.
Thanks..
By the way, I also love the morrocan new rail... but it doesn't make ours a lowlife rail...
And don't mistake the rail tracks for the Rail cars...
