I had a season ticket for years in the Kop. Used to go home and away, 40+ games a season. Got into mad debt supporting the club but couldn't consider stopping. But it was never the glory years. I was there through all the dogshit years when we were mediocre or terrible.
I was regularly there when there was 10 to 15,000 at Elland Road for cup games and the place felt like a ghost town.
I was there all through Ken Bates' malignant ownership, Cellino's lunacy, Steve Evans, Neil Warnock, Dave Hockaday, Darko Milanic, Steve Morison, Paul Rachubka and all the rest of that shite.
I watched us get battered by Blackpool, Preston, Wendies and any pub team we played in the cup. It was miserable for ages but still I never considered stopping. I wrote articles for @TheSquareBall, the magazine who's logo I have tattooed on my arm next to the peacock.
What I'm saying is I love this club with a fierce passion. This season has been magical for all of us, but I've only managed to get to a few games. My career as a comedian takes me all over the country and indeed the world when Leeds games are on so I rarely get a chance.
For Brentford away though, I'm booked in London that night, it would mean the world to me if I could watch this team in the flesh once more. Just to be there, like I always faithfully was, but for us to be as brilliant as we are.
