Hey, guys? I may have figured out Sanders' reluctance to release his tax returns. If I'm right, he WILL release ten years' returns (2008-2018) as soon as he's filed for 2018 -- because the return he's always been worried about is for 2007.

Why do I say this? Because his wife, Jane, allegedly profited from ad buys in his first Senate campaign in 2006:

The Sanders denied it at the time, but think: the biggest ad buys are made late in the year. Jane's ($ millions) commissions likely wouldn't have been paid until 2007 -- meaning they'd be disclosed on their 2007 1040, not their 2006's.

In other words: he's known for a while now - BEFORE the current brouhaha - that he needs to dial back his spontaneous PDA - and he's trying. He's been working on it since before he decided to run. We can't really ask for more from anyone than that they "do the work" like that.

Bernie Sanders has had over THREE years to prepare for the 100% predictable demand that he release his tax returns and his excuse for not doing so is "crossing t's, dotting i's" bullshit.

There is no good explanation.
The best explanation is that he receives substantial income from sources that undercut his "democratic socialist" credibility.
To be clear, he promised to release his returns back in April 2016. He released only the Form 1040 for a couple years, which are just top-line numbers which provide zero insight into his finances.

It’s been 26 days since Sanders launched his 2020 campaign and his website still sucks. It’s the most barren of any declared candidate. No photos, videos, bio, event page, press releases … nothing but a donate page and a store.
And OMG the store. It’s just generic, old stuff. Not a single 2020 piece of merchandise. Even the book they’re selling is his old 2016 one, not his more recent 2018 book. It’s like a yard sale but without the discounts.
This isn’t an inconsequential issue. BS’ experience running a nat’l campaign was supposed to be a big advantage for him. He had money coming out the wazoo *before* his launch - $14.5M was available to him in January. How you run a campaign is an indicator of how you’ll run a WH.

Citizens could register online or get registered automatically, via data from driver's licenses or other gov.t sources. For federal elections, states would have to provide same-day registration & at least 15 days of early voting. Election Day would be a federal holiday.

Very calmly and clinically, on a weekly basis, I'd like to see the House announce and then begin to execute investigations into the many obviously corrupt practices of this administration. Corruption in the White House should be the constant theme.
Thinking strategically, don't even start with Trump, and don't talk "impeachment." Week 1 is Zinke and his self-enrichment scheme at Interior. Week 2 put forward a law which compels presidential candidates to release their tax returns and dare Republicans to reject it.
Week 3: the EPA and investigations on the politicizing of formerly scientific positions. Week 4: response to hurricanes in Puerto Rico. Week 5: Trump family business entanglements week. Week 6: Subpoena Trump's tax returns. etc...

I'm old enough to know just how often the Republican body politic has held a Democrat or Democrats upto a certain ethical or practical standard only to completely abandon it for their own later.

The level of hypocrisy in these moments has been utterly stunning.
