Four years ago today the #insidebitcoinsnyc conference was the final hook & sinker that dragged me deep down the rabbit hole.
“many long time attendees remarked on the number of “suits” in the room. Compared to other conferences hosted in the Javits Center, the crowd was eclectic and the conference small, but it was clear that financial institutions were kicking the tires.” ark-invest.com/research/block…
What I thought of then as the technology hitting “an inflection point in the financial services industry,” was really just an early wave of interest in the *ideas* from financial institutions.

1/ Published an expansion of the 2017 #cryptoasset valuations piece, bifurcating into cryptocapital & cryptocommodities, two groups with fundamentally different models of value capture: placeholder.vc/blog/2019/4/26…
2/ The primary point of bifurcation boils down to what's a "productive asset" (cryptocapital) vs a "non-productive asset" (cryptocommodity).

The equation of exchange (MV = PQ) only applies to the non-productive subset of cryptoassets.
3/ Any cryptonetwork that requires ownership of the native cryptoasset to gain access to a recurring value stream generated by the network,​ t​hereby creates a capital asset as opposed to a commodity.

On one hand, I’m impressed with how $BTC has held given the #Tether news, on the other hand the ~$200 spread between @bitfinex & other exchanges is making me queasy.
Hardly selling off after getting bad news is something we’d expect in a bull market (which I don’t consider us to be in yet despite the hurrahs around golden crosses), but the non-reaction (thus far) has opened my eyes on $BTC sentiment a bit.
On the other hand, we’ll see if Bitfinex can withstand the run on the bank & what further Tether boots drop.

With $BTC needing to retrace to either $4K or the 200 week SMA to have a rock solid base for the bull market to come (IMO), we could get our last great opp of 2019.

1. To understand the gravity of intractable pain and forcible taper, and the death that has occurred here, lets review Carla's story in her own words... she was gravely injured in a car accident in 1980 will multiple fractures throughout her skeleton.
2. She had multiple pain physicians in the last 3 years, each of which engaged in forcible taper to get her under 90 MME and the installation of a pain pump which she could not afford to maintain on her disability income. Her pharmacy stopped filling her Rxs claiming TN regs.

I met Shyla last year in a meeting. Her father had dreamt of making her a doctor. But his dreams drowned in the sewer he had died in. This is her story. (ruralindiaonline.org/articles/my-mo…)
Ten years later, Shyla is almost close to realising her father’s dream. She is doing her nursing course, and she needs help. As a society that sent her father down the sewers, I think it is our responsibility to see that she becomes a nurse.
When I met her again last month, Shyla was exuding confidence. “I will soon be a nurse and if you need anything, call me over” she told me and i cant wait.
Shyla’s course fee for third year comes close to Rs 1 lakh. I already have someone pledging Rs 10,000.

👆 is something I still hear regularly. This misconception seems to be based on the oversimplified idea that sample size only affects precision - something I was told repeatedly in the first years of my studies

Sums up the EU’s Brexit dynamic pretty well, strong externally vis a vie the UK, but the need for internal cohesion means it cannot be nimble (short thread with relevant quotes):
