Also no more productive than recommending a credit card to build your "Credit Score."

Save up and use cash. If it's good enough to buy, it's good enough to save for. Practice discipline like an adult and save up for things.
You could be worth millions of dollars and have a terrible credit score simply because you don't use debt.

"Credit Score" = how well you've been a slave to lenders.

I owe you all a follow up for this:

I had gone for an interview to transition from a physical job to an IT position with my employer.
This process energized me to look into education and certification possibilities while I was waiting to hear back. I have started the process and found eligible to go through a program to help me change my career.
After being approved for the program, last night I received an email telling me I did not get the job I had applied for.

one of the ppl cohen was in business with needed money for the taxi business and other stuff.
cohen approved three separate loans...
a 2M loan that was amended to a 5M loan that was amended to a 6M loan.
they were interest-only at a rate IN EXCESS of 12% (which is ...WOW).
COHEN got the money FOR the loans from a line of credit with an interest rate of less than 5%.
so your boy was making out like a goddamned BANDIT.
meanwhile, defendant borrower was paying his interest by writing *checks* to cohen (personally)--b/c STUPID--

LETTING SOMETHING GO TO COLLECTIONS WILL RUIN YOUR CREDIT FOR YEARS. Even if you pay it off once it’s in collections it stays on your report for up to 7 years. Next is payment history, then usage, then so on. investopedia.com/articles/pf/10…
So I ruined my credit in 2013 when I was 19, freshman year of college I got 3 credit cards that I maxed out and let go to collections. I didn’t understand the seriousness of my actions not the consequences
