GPS only did what Pakatan used to do as opposition. Request for the amendment to be referred to a select committee and insert reference to MA63 in the amendment. It was entirely reasonable. And GPS whip @PetraJayaMP said if govt agreed, the amendment would pass last night.
But again there was hubris and arrogance from the govt. Not even a little compromise. Labels like ‘traitor’ was used. GPS was insulted in the debate. Yet, GPS MPs remained gracious til the end asking for a little compromise for the amendment to pass last night.
In the end it was my way or the highway. The very reasonable requests of a select committee (which is btw an institutional reform promised by PH), insertion of MA63 in the amendment & consultation with Sabah & Sarawak assemblies were pretty much dismissed.
