Macron had been pretty dismal here. There really is no meaningful advantage to October over December except for him to look tough, but shortening it has limited the options.
I don't think there's anywhere near enough time to get MPs onside for a referendum in time for it to be held before October.
Both No10 and the EU are being pretty clear they'll not countenance no-deal.
And as for deal options, October is long enough to let out pressure in UK, making that ultimately less likely.
So basically it's fixed nothing except that in all probability we'll be back here in June and/or October, depending on whether that review process has any meaning, doing it all again.
