Long day at the studio, pouring a drink, and we should probably talk about this thing sitting at the bottom of Lake Ontario Thats marked on my navigational chart no one really wants to talk about....who’s in for a discussion about an extra terrestrial impact?

Ok, so drink poured let’s take a look at navigational chart 2064 of Kingston to False Ducks. There is a magnetic anomaly.

I have sailed around here and your compass will spin erratically...it’s weird, but let’s see why...

This magnetic anomaly of the the area, and in other parts of the world, had both the Canadian and American governments looking into magnetic field disturbances under a program code-named PROJECT MAGNET. Initiated in 1950, PROJECT MAGNET was established.

Statred by the Canadian Department of Transport, the Defence Research Board and the National Research Council (NRC) they tried to determine characteristics of the Earth’s magnetic fields. A similar American study, also code-named PROJECT MAGNET, started a year later. Note tail.

This US Navy led program continued operations until 1994 researching the nature of Earth's magnetic fields using Lockheed Constellation aircraft equipped with highly sensitive electro-magnetic sensing equipment. This was a 60yr study of the Earth's Magnetic Field.

"Charity Shoal”, a ringlike shape 25 km south of Kingston, ON is clearly visible on the bottom of the lake at a depth of 25ft. The ring-like structure is 1km in diameter, & is almost perfectly circular. Recently studied by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

Also studied by the National Geophysical Data Centre, I found their document and it states: “A small equidimensional circular depression 1000 meters in diameter, with a continuous encircling rim, coincides with the feature referred to as Charity Shoal on nautical charts."

"The origin of the feature remains unknown... Aeromagnetic mapping by the Geological Survey of Canada revealed a negative magnetic anomaly over Charity Shoal, which is a characteristic feature of simple impact craters.”

The Charity Shoal Structure was studied in 2013 by the Universities Space Research Association, an independent, nonprofit research corporation who completed a comprehensive study of the ring shape. I obtained a copy of their research document that states:

“The origin of the structure is uncertain but it has been interpreted as a an Ordovician age meteorite impact.”

Ordovicain era. That puts the underwater structure at about 460 million years of age.

Hang on, let me get another drink, this gets crazy.

The USRA study conducted a detailed survey of the structure, creating a 2-D magnetic model to try and evaluate its origin. Their research shows that the underwater structure is defined by a ring-like magnetic high and central magnetic low with the total field magnetic anomaly.

Ordovician Era. Invertebrates, namely molluscs & arthropods, dominated the oceans. Fish, the world's first true vertebrates, continued to evolve, & those with jaws may have first appeared late in the period. Life had yet to diversify on land. There was an extinction.

The origin of the underwater ring is uncertain but it has been interpreted as an Ordovician age meteorite impact. Was this the extinction impact? So I contacted Dr. Richard Herd, retired curator of the National Meteorite Collection of the Geological Survey of Canada for answers..

Dr. Herd told me this submerged ring could be an iron-nickel meteor, parts of small planets from when the solar system was formed. WTF.

If this is a meteor impact, it would rival the Barringer Crater in Arizona, a structure of the same size w/similar properties to the Charity Structure. The Arizona crater is the same size, formed when a nickel-iron meteorite about 160 ft in diameter hit the surface of the earth.

I've had couple drinks, but I think this structure needs some more study...we could have a submerged extra-terrestrial impact that created an extinction millions of years ago, and is causing magnetic anomalies that could be explained by minerals from another world.
