Some Nine World's stuff worthy of a read.
One of the reasons why the 9W stuff is interesting to me is partly due to how it all turned out, what they achieved and the hardships they faced and also partly because I could see Kitacon going the same route and facing the same challenges.
Obviously I'm keen to avoid the pitfalls others have made in order to maintain a strong event and team but I can't help be worried about the geek/nerd communities being swallowed up by non caring events worried only about their bottom line.

@Iron_Spike One of my medieval history professors specialized in the field of women’s history and basically EVERY weird sexist thing was only the norm for the rich. Studying public records from the time you see all sexes working side by side, hanging out together, and doing the same jobs.
@Iron_Spike Just think of modern day! If youre a working class family can you AFFORD to have one parent out of work? Imagine back in the day w/o social services to compensate for a stay at home parent. You HAD to work. EVERYONE DID. Secluding females from public life was rich mans privilege
@Iron_Spike And as was previously mentioned, childbirth was dangerous enough without it being done too young. Marrying off your 11yo daughter and expecting her to get pregnant ASAP was a recipe for a dead daughter. Poor people weren’t stupid. Even if their kids married they MADE THEM WAIT.

I live in a place that has self-ID, and as a transwoman, I’d just like to say that from my personality it’s a total pain in the ass.

I hate being asked what my pronouns are while going to the bank. Or the grocery line. People are trying to be polite, I know.
But the fact is that if they have to ask they probably already know.

Any "classical" music we're listening to today survived for hundreds of years because it was popular back in its day. Much of it was even attacked for its popularity as being "vulgar" (meaning common), aimed at the masses.
The bit in Doctor Who where "Toxic" was described as "a traditional earth ballad" at the death of the sun isn't a joke on haha, these future people don't understand modern culture. The very ubiquity of an ~*overplayed*~ ~*pop*~ song gives it a better shot at being conserved.
In the days before recording media, original compositions only survived the ages if people cared enough about it to make and circulate expensive copies of the sheet music (either entirely by hand, or later laid out for a printer by hand). Before that tunes were learned directly.

If there's one thing we all need to learn, it's how to repent. I love feel good Islamic quotes as much as the next person, but we run the risk of not fully understanding that our actions can have serious consequences, in the sight of Allah and to ourselves and those around us.
When it comes to pursuing forgiveness, it's a precarious balance. Either people become so resigned with their wrongdoings that they don't think there's any point in asking for it, or they think no matter what Allah will forgive them.
Which yeah, no sin is too great for Allah, but thinking that we're set as long as we come back and ask for forgiveness while consciously repeating the same mistakes knowing it's displeasing is also a problem.
