People terrified of impeachment are making a very simple and fundamental mistake: they're assuming views on Trump as informed by things Democrats do, instead of correctly understanding that most people's views of things Democrats do are informed by views on Trump.
Trump is the axis around which all politics has turned, since mid-2015. People are not undecided about him; they are more decided about him than ANY OTHER ISSUE. Peoples' views of literally everything else are driven by whether they like or hate Trump (and a majority hates him).
That's why every issue poll breaks down 5-4 or 6-3, with the side identified with anti-Trumpism getting the larger share. He's driving e v e r y t h i n g in American politics.
That's how mass politics work at a certain level of tribalism: affective coalitions, not voters weighing policy proposals and deciding who to support. Democrats are currently blessed with the larger coalition and they should use it.
