Likely the first appearance of the phrase “polygenic score” in Nypost.

Subject is genetic predictions of IQ.
The item discusses genetic “privilege.” Isn’t that another word for genetic superiority?
Item says “well-meaning people often refuse to accept that genes play any role in understanding who succeeds in education, in the job market and in other walks of life.”

That phrase....”well meaning people” ... it rang a bell.
Same phrase, well meaning people, famously appears in David Reich NYTIMES editorial to describe people who “deny” biological differences between populations (races).

Price is $2.125 million. Officially the world's most expensive one-time drug ever. Price is $1.2mm to $600,000 higher than ICER recommendation for cost effectiveness. Going up against another egregiously priced medication, SMA, which is sold at 6x its cost effective price.
Novartis arguing that its drug is 50% cheaper than 10 years of Spinraza (which is $375k a year, and is given chronically). BUT no evidence this gene therapy lasts 10 years! oldest kid is 5.

DNA ancestry company MyHeritage launching health tests, including three based on polygenic risk scores: heart disease, type ii diabetes, breast cancer. Only works in Europeans. Continued debate as to whether this information useful. businesswire.com/news/home/2019…

Offering these predictions direct to the public is quite new....and can be hotly debated. The predictions aren't that accurate. The tests do lie pretty often.

Grail goes with "methylation" (i guess they mean DNA sequencing which, post a chemical step, also detects methylation status of the "C"s in a g c t) for liquid biopsy clinical studies. This is further evidence of the importance of Dennis Lo of CHUK in shaping Grail's direction

What a great day so far. Called an audible this morning about frying the turkey, as the darn thing was too big according to the directions 21lbs, not to mention she's clearly a Diva who was still partially frozen even after 4 days thawing in the fridge. Water bath time.
Had to re-write the "production schedule" for everything else completely. Good news, I had 4 other capable and willing to help pairs of hands! My 3 kids, and the eldest's new GF. She's darling btw.
We went for the Hail Mary. Decided to go with the homemade butter cajun injected marinade idea (1st time ever) once Diva was thawed. Myy son the "Product Designer" figured out the hieroglyphic instructions to the digital probe thermometer too.
