One month ago, I got the call we all dread the most. My 17yr old brother had just had a stroke in school. No previous medical conditions, no trauma to the head and no use of recreational drugs. Just a spontaneous intracerebral bleed.
Confused and scared AF, all I could think about was getting to him in time. I mean it’s the brain we’re talking about here. Like we say in medicine, Brain is Time. Got the last flight out of Abuja that evening and finally got to him in school the following day.
Over the next few days after that, I had to make decisions i wouldn’t ask of my worst enemy. I mean you’re the doctor right, so everyone automatically expected you to understand the situation and make the right calls.

The usual disclaimer applies: YMMV, my way is not the only way, everyone's journey is different. This advice is intended for new writers seeking traditional publication. I straight up can't speak to indie/self-publishing because I don't have experience there.
1. The key to all marketing endeavors is WRITING A GREAT BOOK. For real. A book that is compelling, beautifully written, and carefully revised will snag a passionate agent, sell to a quality publishing house in a bigger deal, and receive more marketing attention. Period.

Let me start by saying that @BillyRedHorse is the authority in my circle on manners, but I feel the need to express some simple truths about manners. I read a post that mentioned someone commenting about opening a door being "nice". Now...
2/ It says something when people see a gentleman displaying manners and they comment "you din't see a lot of that anymore." That is wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Me and many like me were raised to always put manners first, use them all the time and there was NEVER an excuse to NOT TO!
3/ Have we regressed so far that we don't even value the simple "thank you", "please" and "pardon me"? Why is it not common to open doors, hold chairs, rise when a lady enters, etc? Is it that hard?

1. A very friendly immigration officer and I laughed together, and when I said “I don’t really know where I’ll be staying,” he actually applauded it.
2. Very nice and clean train from the airport, with power sockets, and vending machines onboard.

Tons of solar panels passed by on the way.
