Reading and studying the Qur'an is one of the most important activities during Ramadan. In this lecture and visual presentation, we will explore the history of the written Qur’an from the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) up to the print and digital eras. We will 1/4
discuss issues of the Qur'anic text transmission and Qur'anic writing systems and techniques, including Rasm (orthography), vocalization, scripts, marks and colors.

The presentation will feature several of the Heritage Library's significant Qur'anic manuscripts from the 2/4
first centuries of Hijra (7th to 9th centuries CE) through the 20th century.

The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Ahmed Khalid Shokri, Professor of Qur’anic Studies at Qatar University, and Mahmoud Zaki, Information Services Librarian (Manuscripts) at Qatar National 3/4
Library.

This event will also be livestreamed on Facebook page:
