Oh, god, the silliness here is overwhelming. Protestors advertised widely 600 protests on June 1 last year, tried very hard to get as many people to know about these protests as possible, so a private company compiled a list of them.

That's not "spying" or an "abuse of power".
The entire story is based around a single email sent by a private company listing all the scheduled protests, around which it builds a scary narrative. This is the natsec equivalent of the "dihydrogenmonoxide" scare.

The point is that you can craft a scary narrative around anything, no matter how innocent, and people will widely retweet you, especially political candidate. This is the Social Media era where it's the narrative that is Truth, not the underlying data/facts.
