Alex Hirsch (Creator of Gravity Falls) has threaded together some thoughts I totally agree with.
This is all reminding me, strongly, of when "The Sims" was first optioned for film, and the proposed plot was (reportedly) two teen boys get SUCKED INTO THEIR COMPUTER!!!!! INTO THE SIMS!!! WOOOOOAH!!!

And it genuinely couldn't have felt more clueless.
You're handed a game where I can be an immortal vampire matriarch nightclub owner with a house full of pet raccoons who rides unicorns to China & masters the laser harp to impress celebrities so I can invite them over & feed them to my carnivorous garden, and... you give me that.
I'm over here LITERALLY FUCKING GHOSTS and having GHOST BABIES.

Barely related, gonna take a moment to remind folks their concept of what the "Old West" looked like is primarily basked on exclusionary, white-created media. Texas was a slave state, and 30% of its settler population was black at the end of the Civil War. They became cowboys.
It's estimated a quarter of all cowboys were black overall, because it was rough manual labor, one of the few jobs black men were allowed to do, and many were already trained for it.
There were numerous famous black cowboys, as well, such as Bill Pickett, Nat Love (Aka Deadwood Dick), and lawman Bass Reeves, who has been persuasively argued to be the inspiration for The Lone Ranger.

Hey, so.

Let's talk about one of the most misunderstood genres in European, specifically Flemish, art.
The county of Flanders didn't invent the still life, of course. The first known instances of art depicting aesthetically arranged objects are ancient. Egyptians depicted feasts meant to feed the dead in the afterlife; Romans and Greeks decorated their houses with still lifes.
But we're not talking about that stuff. We're not even talking about still life traditions popular in other European countries, like Spain and Italy. We're gonna talk about my favorite still lifes: FLEMISH ones, from the 16th/17th century onward.

Has anybody revisited the 1962 Sidney Poitier movie "Pressure Point" in light of the persistence of white supremacist politics in our time?

Totally agree with @lauferlaw. The consequential news today is #Manafort, yet the networks prefer a play by play of #Omarosa and @realDonaldTrump’s distraction game. @cnn and @msnbc answer to the god of ratings. If they spent more time on journalism, we would be further ahead.
Omarosa is neither a victim, nor a whistle-blower. To suggest her self-centred narrative is comparable to a systematic and sustained attack on the US by a hostile foreign nation is like believing the plot of a pot-boiler you’re reading on a plane about to crash into the ground.
It’s also suspect her revelations are not material to Trump and Russia. It’s almost like she’s been produced by @MarkBurnettTV in an attempt to divert attention from far more consequential events.
