Whether or not you bike, you should fight for protected bike lanes. To prevent horrible deaths, yes. But to help speed the transition to more biking/ebiking/scooters—carbon free transit.

Fixing dangerous intersections and roadways AFTER somebody is killed is a terrible way to run a city. And yet SF is far better about bike lanes than most. This is a society-wide revolution that needs to happen. We'll all be safer and happier for it. sfchronicle.com/bayarea/heathe…

Oh wait that record setting claim was for the bar hang, which caveat, is easier for those of us who were both decently strong and also tiny. Sigh.

This #ClimateEmergency report outlines 6 Big Moves for Council to direct staff to pursue & come back w. comprehensive/costed plans. Plus 53 Accelerated Actions to move on now. The targets are strong & won’t be easy. This is what governing in line with the science looks like.
Big Move 1: By 2030, 90% of people will live within an easy walk/roll of their daily needs (we’re at 45%). Focused on land-use & complete n'hoods, it would ⬇️ 153,000 tonnes carbon/year, while creating ⬆️ housing choices, ⬆️ social interaction, and supporting local businesses.

More than twice as many trips were taken on shared micromobility in the U.S. as compared to the year before.

Dockless pedal bikes have largely disappeared from most U.S. cities; in part replaced by shared scooters.
E-bikes, while limited in rollout, have been heavily used in the cities with substantial e-bike fleets.

@DCHCMPO As more people move here, they encounter land use patterns, transportation infrastructure, and policy making that encourage driving as the primary or only travel mode. So what do they do? They drive.
At the state level, resources through @NCDOT to make lasting, substantial changes in nonhighway infrastructure are paltry compared to those for road widening, intersection and interchange "improvements," and other projects that reinforce driving as the best and only travel mode.
